Maxwell Boston, the Dartmouth resident who received a good beating at the hands of police officers, on Valentine’s Day, is nursing injuries to his eye, elbow and feet as a patient, at the Suddie Public Hospital.
He said the incident began on Sunday, (Valentine’s Day), at Capoey Lake between 7:00pm and 8:00pm.
Boston said that he was talking with a girl when he was accosted from behind by six or seven policemen who were attired in civilian clothes.
But what promoted the manhandling? According to Boston, he said about two hours prior, he passed by the policemen, who were imbibing and singing a Vybz Cartel song.
After been accosted and put in handcuffs, Boston said he was escorted to the Anna Regina Police Station where the real beating unfolded. The hospitalized man said that a number of policemen held unto him and inflicted a sound trashing on him before placing him in the lockups where a senior police officer placed a gun to his head and threatened to shoot him.
Boston said that during the assault he lost his gold necklace. A report was later lodged and he was transported to the Suddie Public Hospital by police officers. He said that he is pursuing the matter.
When asked if he had any previous altercations with the police officers, Boston responded in the affirmative.
A senior police officer who was alerted to the incident vowed to launch an investigation into the matter. (Yannason Duncan)
