Rising Sun, Inshan Bacchus $4.5M Horserace meet…
Preparations have heightened for the Rising Sun Turf club in collaboration with the Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service Mashramani one day horserace meet slated for Sunday 21st February at the Club’s entity Rising Sun Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
The event which is being held in memory of the late VP of RSTC, Zaleena Habibulla Lawrie, is dubbed “Hellie’s Day of Racing at Rising Sun.”
Eight top notch races are carded for the day with prize monies totaling over $4.5M in cash and trophies are up for the taking in what is expect to be a scorching day of racing.
So far over 40 animals have been entered with the feature event being taken care of by Banks DIH Limited and the action is expected to be intense.
The feature C class event which will be called the “Hellie Mile” has a total prize money of over $ 1.6M with the winner set to race away with an encouraging $800,000 and trophy compliments of Banks DIH Limited over 1600M.
The E Class event has a winner’s prize of $500,000 and trophy over 1400M. The G3 and lower showdown will see the animals running for the $320,000 first prize in a 1000M contest.
There is a race for H class horses with the pole position taking set at $300,000 and trophy over 1100M. The I class event is usually very competitive and as such the organizers has put up a winning purse of $260,000 and trophy over 1100M.
The event for horses classified J and lower will see the winner receiving $200,000 and trophy over 1100. A first prize of $160,000 and trophy is available for the winner of the race for K and lower animals also over 1100M. The animals classified L and lower will race over 1100M for a winner’s pocket of $100,000 and trophy.
The nation’s largest horseracing sponsors Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot West Coast Berbice, Hablaw Meat Centre are among the sponsors so far on board.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market as usual is on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes which includes the champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable among others.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Rising Sun Turf Club.
