The horseracing bandwagon is set to make its next stop at the famous Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast, Berbice. The date is Sunday 21 February. That is when the entity in collaboration with the Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service stages their Mash One Day Horserace Meeting.
The event, which will be held in memory of the late VP of RSTC, Zaleena Habibulla Lawrie, is dubbed the “Hellie’s Day of Racing at Rising Sun”.
Eight races are listed for the day with over GY$4M in cash and trophies up for the taking.
The featured race will be the C & lower event, which will be called the “Hellie Mile”, will be over a distance of 1600M for a winning purse of $800,000 and trophy.
There is an event for horses classified E and lower for a pocket of $500,000 and trophy. The distance is 1400M. A top prize of $320,000 and trophy is up for grabs for the winner in the G and lower contest over 1000M. The winner of the H and lower race will take home $300,000 and trophy in the 1100M event.
The event for I and lower animals will see the winner collecting $260,000 and trophy over 1100M. The event for animals classified J and lower for a winner’s money of $220,000 and trophy is also over 1100. A first prize of $160,000 and trophy is available for the winner of the race for K and lower animals also over 1100M.
The animals classified L and lower will race over 1100M for a winner’s pocket of $100,000 and trophy.
Entries closed tomorrow.
Outstanding individual performers including top jockey, runner up, trainer and stable will be presented with trophies and other accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich, Proprietor of Trophy Stall of Bourda Market.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Rising Sun Turf Club and Bugle time is 12:30 hrs.
