Mason jailed for ganja in milk tin
A Charlestown resident was yesterday jailed for 36 months, after he was found guilty in a city court of having

marijuana in a milk tin for the purpose of trafficking.
Paul Anthony Punch, 40, of Adelaide Street, Charlestown, had 120 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking on October 10, last, at Sussex Street.
He was found guilty by City Magistrate Judy Latchman at the conclusion of a trial in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. Punch was also ordered to pay a fine of $30,000 with an alternative of a further six months in jail.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick presented the case for the prosecution.
According to Bostwick, a quantity of the illicit substance was found in a Fernleaf milk tin hidden in the defendant’s apartment. Bostwick had told the court that on the day in question, the police visited Punch’s home and had inquired if he had drugs.
The Prosecutor added that Punch replied, “Is a li’l hustle I doing. See wuh yuh could do fuh me.” He said that Punch was taken to the police station, where the drug was weighed in his presence.
Punch made his first court appearance on October 14, 2015, and had denied the allegation.
