-Ifill’s return likely

Colts United promises to stampede the upcoming National Basketball Championships: The Road to Mecca III, The Jubilee Edition with the belief that this is their time to go down in the annals of history with the ultimate, but yet elusive domestic basketball title.
To accomplish its goal of winning the National Championships, Colts committed to trampling on any opposition. As such, Colts Trinidad and Tobago-based forwards, Steve McSeen and Andrew Ifill are likely to appear on the team’s roster ahead of jump ball.
McSeen, a 6’7″ forward, originally from Kwakwani, has been a difference-maker for Colts in the past. Ifill needs no introduction; a long standing member of Guyana’s national team, Ifill is being touted for his foundation club, Colts ahead of the major assignment.
Ifill has played basketball around the world and according to Club President, Michael Singh, has indicated
his willingness to play for “the club that brought him up”. Singh said that Ifill noted the immense role Colts’ late Coach, Phillip George, played in moulding him and is eager to return to help the Club win a National Championship.
“I think we are the team to beat with our roster, which will shock many; more than likely our two Trinidad-based forwards and our guards will get the job done; once we shoot the high percentage and play defence, we will be the team to beat,” Singh said. Colts national guards include, Shelroy Thomas, Dave Causway and Kurt English.
The Colts President and Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Vice-President, made it clear that some seasoned players will have to sit down as is the case every time the team acquires players. “We want to play semi-professional basketball in Suriname and Barbados so we have to consistently improve our roster,” he told Kaieteur Sport.
He believes nothing is standing in their way of the national title this year after narrowly missing out in 2014 and finishing as runner-up last year. “It is our time, this year; three, two, one, three is a charm,” Singh jokingly retorted yesterday.
Colts has been close to the title, finishing in the top three of the last two Championships. Colts is one of the favourite teams in the tournament based on their performances last year. They won the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League qualifier, GABF Forbes Burnham Memorial and GABA Division I League last month.
