The bodybuilding fraternity in Guyana was plunged into a state of sadness on Tuesday with the passing of
former Guyana Amateur Body Building and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) President, George Marshall.
Marshall, who has also been Guyana’s first and longest serving IFBB-certified Bodybuilding Judge in Guyana got into the administration of the sport in the 1970s up until when he resigned as President in 2003.
Being a former Competitor, Coach and Team Manager as well, George as he was familiarly known was always seen rendering his services as a Judge even after he left as President. He was known for his sternness whenever it came to the rules of the sport and was always giving advice to the young and even seasoned athletes in the sport.
His career as an administrator, which spanned over 25 years, also saw him serving as Secretary and was associated with the Kingsrow Barbell Club for over 40 years. Kaieteur Sport joins the rest of the body building fraternity in extending sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late George Marshall. May his Soul rest in peace.
