At Paradise Community Centre Ground, winning the toss in bright sunshine, Buxton ‘Carl Hooper Cricket Club (A) batted first on a good pitch with Akeem Niles opening the batting, wasting no time as he smashed the bowling ‘Chris Gayle’ style reaching 101 in the 13th over hitting 7 x 6 and 11 x 4. Travis Andrews, the other contributor, made 23 striking 1 x 6 and 1 x 4 as Buxton reached 186 for 6 in their allotted 40 overs. Bowling for Paradise Bachelor Adventure Cricket Club, fast bowler Jermaine Martin was the only threat as he finished with figures of 5 for 45.
Paradise Bachelor Adventure Cricket Club in reply were bowled out for 127 in the 23rd over. Claudius Fraser came in with 33 including 5×4 and Jermain Martin 24 – 1×6, 3×4. Bowling for Buxton Rawle Fredericks’ right arm off-spin claimed 3 for 25.
At Ogle Community Centre Ground; Ogle Cricket Club, sponsored by Builders Lumber Yard, defeated Golden Grove Cricket Club (A) by 5 wickets.
Golden Grove (A) won the toss and batted first and were skittled out for 125 from 28:1 overs. Dellon Skeete made a polished 52 which included 5×4 and Richard Woolford 37 with 4×4. Bowling for Ogle Cricket Club, Devendra Rampahal 7-1-17-4, Anand Persaud 7-0-26-4 were the leading wicket takers. In reply, Ogle Cricket Club hit off the required runs in the 22nd over to reach 126 for 5. Top scorer Toolsie Balkaran stylishly put together 51 with 6×4, 1×6, while Khemchand Dindial contributed 22 with 2×4.
At Strathavon Community Centre; Helena 1 & 2 Sports Club edged pass Strathavon Cricket Club. Helena won the toss and batted first. Prakash Chowte started with a blast, hammering 10 x 4 and 2 x 6 to reach 109. The other major contributor was Steve Chand who made a stylish 45 with 4 x 4. Helena were bowled out in the 30th over after posting 216.
Strathavon started badly losing wickets frequently and were eventually bowled out for 103 in 19 overs. Bowling for Helena, Thagnarine Singh 4 – 24, Kumar Seedyal bowled 2 balls and both deliveries produced wickets. Helena 1 & 2 Sports Club won by 114 runs.
At Better Hope Community Centre Ground; Better Hope Cricket Club (B) demolished Mon Repos Sports Club by 204 runs in what appeared to be a one-sided affair. Batting first Better Hope amassed 299 all out in 25 overs with Daniel Kowlessar smashing a quick fire 55, belting 3 x 6 and 6 x 4. Ravi Singh and Jayadev Mana joined the party with Singh scoring 47, caressing 5 x 4s and to 2 mighty 6’s and Mana 44, 2 x 6 and 2 x 4. Amir Khan playing a discipline innings chipped in with 30 stroking 3 x 4. Bowling for Mon Repos Ravi Persaud 2 – 39 and Kevin Jagmohan 2 – 56. Mon Repos were bowled out for 96 with only Sheed Zaman 26, 2 x 4 and 2 x 6. Bowling for Better Hope (B), Jayadev Mana took 4 – 8 and Kevin Rampersaud 2 – 12.
At Buxton Community Centre Ground; Rockaway Cricket Club, sponsored by Rockaway Auto Sales Inc. USA eased pass Buxton ‘Carl Hooper’ Sports Club. Batting first after winning the toss, Rockaway amassed 238 all in the 29th over with Moin Azimulla belting 57 with 7 x 4 and 3 x 6. Venoo Paul stroked 7 x 4 contributing 40 and Kelvin 39 (3 x 4 and 3 x 6). Bowling for Buxton (B) Steve Bernnet 2 – 4 and Kelvin Booker 2 – 39 were the main wicket takers.
In reply, Buxton could only put up 190 all out from 23.3 overs. Jermine Cox 29 – 2 x 4, Ano Abrams 29 – 4 x 4 and Andrew Jordan 30 – 1 x 6 were the main batters. Bowling for Rockaway, Alvin Bishun took 3 – 24, Malcolm Khan 2 – 13 and Devendra Rajpat 2 – 33.
