During yesterday’s session at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), bids were opened for contractors to operate and ensure the security of mobile and fixed pumps belonging to the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) in Regions number 2, 3 and 4. The engineer’s estimate was $31.6M.
Farmers throughout the country have been feeling the effects of the weather phenomenon known as ‘El Niño’, which has produced drought-like conditions. In response to the lack of water, water rationing has been employed in certain locations, while private farmers and NDIA have had to deploy pumps in some instances.
There were also bids for the operation and security of NDIA mobile pumps at Enmore and Huntley, Region No. 4. The engineer’s estimate was $6.6M.
There were bids to operate, service and monitor NDIA excavators on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD). The price proposals were submitted in ‘per day per excavator’ (PDPE) format and the engineer’s estimate was $20,000 PDPE.
There were also bids for operating, servicing and monitoring the NDIA hydraulic excavators in Region No 5. The engineer’s estimate was $20,000 PDPE.
Under NDIA, there were bids for operating, servicing and monitoring NDIA hydraulic excavators and works on the pontoon to dredge outfalls within Regions No. 2,3,4,5,6 and 10. The engineer’s estimate was $29,000 PDPE.
Hydraulic excavators in Region 3 are also slated to benefit from these operations. The engineer’s estimate was put at $20,000 PDPE.
Region No 2 was not left out of the contracts either. There were six bidders vying for operating, servicing and monitoring of hydraulic excavators.
And finally, bids were opened for the procurement of chemical supplies under the Ministry of Agriculture’s National Agriculture Research and Extension Institute (NAREI). There were three bidders.
