The Guyana Beach Football Association on Monday was presented with two
floodlights from Businessman Bernard Hodge of Bernard’s Variety Store.
According to the President of the GBFA, Rollin Tappin, Beach Football is catching on and he is grateful for the timely donation. Tappin said the Association welcomes the lights and he hopes that other corporate companies and businessmen come on board.
Hodge said he is always willing to assist in his community and will continue to sponsor sports and anything to do with youths. The Guyana Beach Football Association first National Tournament began on January 31st, 2016 and continues each Sunday. The games will be played at the Bayroc Ground and Kuru Kururu Ground on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.
Ten teams are vying for the top prize of $250,000 and a trophy. The teams are Hi Stars, Silver Bullets, Sparta Boss, West Ruimveldt Front Road, Alexander Village, Cool Runnings, Buxton FC, Attention Family and Royal Youth.
The tournament continues this Sunday at Bayroc Ground at 4:00 p.m. (Jacquey Bourne)
