Police are still on the hunt for a cane cutter who allegedly raped his 15-year-old stepdaughter earlier in the month before fleeing the jurisdiction.
According to information, the 29-year-old man a cane harvester of Princetown, Corriverton, Corentyne Berbice, is alleged to have committed the act on the 15-year-old at their home this month.
According to information the girl who is a school dropout, lives at the residence with her mother, stepfather and other siblings.
On January 7, last, the girl’s mother was looking through her daughter’s memory card when she was startled to see some nude photographs of the girl and the suspect.
The mother immediately questioned her about the photographs and she told her that her stepfather had sex with her and forced her to take the nude pictures.
The girl was subsequently escorted to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where she was examined by a doctor.
The matter was reported to the police station and checks were made for the accused. However he had fled the area.
It is suspected that the accused is out of the country.
Investigations are ongoing.
