As police continue to hunt for a man, who murdered his wife two Thursdays ago at Zeelugt, a post mortem
examination revealed that the 41-year-old mother of three was beaten, stabbed and strangled.
The post mortem examination was done at the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour last Monday by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh. It revealed that Bibi Zabida Khan was stabbed to the neck and waist.
She was also beaten in the head and strangled. The woman’s battered body was discovered in a trench at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), on January 21, last, one day after she went missing from her Seaview, Stewartville home.
Residents at Zeelugt told police that the woman’s husband, Randolph Williams, was seen beating her on the Zeelugt Public Road.
This newspaper was told when residents rushed to rescue the woman, Williams pushed her into a nearby trench then jumped behind her.
There are reports that the man stabbed her while in the trench and strangled her. He later fled in a bushy area.
Yesterday, one of the woman’s relatives told this newspaper that they have received information that Williams might be hiding in Essequibo at his relatives.
They believed that immediately after murdering Khan, he took a minibus and traveled to Parika, EBE, where he joined a boat and journeyed to Essequibo.
Khan’s relatives explained that the killer is originally from Essequibo and all of his family members are currently residing there.
They are pleading with the police to do whatever they can to arrest Williams and charge him for the killing of Khan.
This newspaper was told that the killing might have stemmed from allegations of infidelity.
The couple’s neighbours said that Williams and Khan lived together for 11 years and like every husband and wife, they too had their issues but none of them expected to see such a tragic ending.
“They does quarrel, she does move out and then they does make up back and he does ask her to move back with him,” one of the neighbours said.
He explained that over the years there were several rumours of Khan being unfaithful to her husband but Williams was never aware of this information until last December when he was informed that his wife had a cellular phone which she used to communicate with other men.
“He said if he ever finds out that she is cheating then he will kill her and kill himself,” another neighbour related.
The neighbours who reside in proximity of the couple said that some time last month, Williams told his wife that he was going to work but instead he hid in a chicken pen which is located at the back of the yard.
According to the neighbours, Williams waited a while in the pen and then quietly walked to the step. There, he reportedly heard his wife talking to someone on the phone.
“He listened to her and then he walk up to her and tap her on her shoulder and collected the phone,” one of the neighbours said.
Kaieteur News was told that after a month, the couple moved past their differences and continued their relationship.
“Two days before this (murder) happened, we heard them arguing about some phone card so we can’t say if he found the card and was questioning her if she has another phone or what,” the neighbours related.
Investigations are ongoing.
