Police are investigating a case of robbery with violence committed on Chinese restaurateur Wenzhana Vang, 52, which occurred around 22:55 hrs last Sunday.
The businessman was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and an iPhone 6.
The victim operates a restaurant where he resides, in a two story structure at Lot 83 Public Road, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.
According to reports, Vang was about to close his restaurant when three men entered the premises under the pretext of purchasing food. However, as Vang was in the process of taking the order, he was accosted by the bandits. The men demanded all that he had. He proceeded to gave them his daily sales which were in the restaurant.
Not satisfied, the robbers took him upstairs where they proceeded to beat him to “hand over more”. He then gave them an undisclosed amount of cash which he had concealed in the house. The men then continued to beat him and dealt him several cuffs about his body and face before relieving him of his cell phone. They them made good their escape through the front door on the lower flat.
The matter was reported and several persons were detained and questioned.
The injured businessman was subsequently taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was treated before being transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital and subsequently released.
