Devon Lord struck a fine hundred while Stefan Wilson hit a fluent half century as Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) defeated Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) by 116 runs when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society second division 40-over tournament continued yesterday at Bourda.
Lord anchored the innings, hitting seven fours and four sixes as he shared in a 179-run sixth wicket stand with Steffan Wilson after GCC lost a few early wickets, batting first in favourable sunshine.
Lord timed the ball well before he was run out for 117 off 80 balls while Wilson who stroked five fours off 65 balls was also run out for a well played 68. Martin Pestano Belle and Khemraj Jaikarran scored 23 and 22 respectively as GCC rattled up 306-8. Sachin Singh and Naveed Ali claimed 2-57 each.
MYO lost opener Richard Latif for 11, but Martin Dutchin took the fight to the opposition with courageous batting. Dutchin clobbered four fours and eight maximums before he was caught off Winston Forrester for 111 of 98 balls. While Dutchin played his shots, GCC bowlers managed to restrict the other batsmen with only Sachin Singh 15 and Abdul Kumar 14 offering some resistance as MYO ended on 190-7. Forrester snared 3-50, Ganesh Balkarran 2-12 and Lord 2-31.
University of Guyana gained a walk over from Ace Warriors who failed to turn up at GNIC SC.
