Glen Robinson & Keith Semple slated to play
On January 21, 2015 former Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Demerara right-handed batsman Murtland Bagot became the first road fatality on the 108 square Mile Island of Antigua for that year after he fell from a truck and was struck by a 4Runner on the Sir Sydney Walwyn Highway.
Bagot, who grew up in West Bank Demerara in Guyana was an attacking and sometimes an unorthodox batsman, who made his inter-county debut for Demerara against Essequibo at Hampton Court in his mid 30s, was 51 when he died.
Bagot lived for 13 years in Antigua and leaves to mourn his ruptured wife who resides in the USA, four children and five brothers.
On Tuesday night at DCC several former Guyana, inter-county and first division cricketers who played with or against the former DCC player, will turn back the clock when they compete in a t20 game from 19:00 hrs in observance of the first death Anniversary of Bagot.
Former Guyana and West Indies batsman 45-year-old Keith Semple who played seven ODIs in 1999 in South Africa and former Guyana left arm spinner 44-year-old Glen Robinson who played four Regional 50-over games for Guyana in the mid-90s are both in Guyana and are expected to play in this match.
Former West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, who will lead one of the teams in the much anticipated Unity Cricket at Providence, will be joined by former West Indies Test pacers Colin Stuart and Reon King on Tuesday Evening.
Former Guyana Wicketkeeper batsman Neil Barry will lead one of the teams with DCC’s Linden Lyght, the most successful second division Captain in Demerara, will Skipper the other team.
