Grove Hi Tech collide with Soesdyke Falcons for top prize
Defending champions Grove Hi Tech will be going all out to retain the billing as the best Under-17 team on the
East Bank when the final of the SUNBURST / EBFA championship is contested tomorrow from 15:00hrs at the Grove Playfield.
Standing in their way would be Soesdyke Falcons featuring an array of exciting players that would be led by the Khan brothers, Tyrone and Tyrell. Competing in the third place match would be Herstelling Raiders and Mocha Champs from 13:00hrs.
Grove have an exciting group of players who have also been doing well having had senior team exposure and are eager to prove that they are still the best at this level on the East Bank. They have hammered all and sundry on their way to the final, their last victim being Mocha Champs in the semi final, a 12-1 triumph to take their tally in the tournament to a whopping 30 goals.
The home team attack will be centered around some potent forwards and midfielders the likes of Alwyn Haynes, Nicholai Matthews, Threvon Pluck, Tevin Millington, Denzil Crawford and their leading marksman as well as the tournament Kevin Dalton (8) along with Goalkeeper Randy Smartt hoping to keep the Soesdyke boys at bay.
Soesdyke will not be under the level of pressure as Grove and are expected to put on a good performance having had some extra time to prepare for tomorrow. Apart from the Khan brothers who have been their mainstay, Custodian Dyonta Grant-Stuart, Tavin Marshall, Shonan Somnauth and Shane Meusa will all have to combine efforts to topple Grove in order to lift the championship trophy.
Both Herstelling and Mocha will want to close out this competition on a high and are expected to take the fight to each other. Herstelling, beaten finalists in 2014 have not lived up to expectations in the 2015 edition of the tournament therefore will want to do well against a Mocha side that will be seeking to take them out.
Both matches will be of 90 minutes duration and fans from the respective villages are expected to come out in their numbers to urge their villagers on.
Marketing and Sales Manager of sponsors, Continental Agencies Limited, Mr. Avalon Jagnandan along with his team will be on hand to witness the matches and assist with the presentation of prizes.
The top four teams will all receive trophies with gold, silver and bronze medals at stake for the top three. The most disciplined team will receive the Fair Play trophy, while the highest goal scorer, most valuable player and best goalkeeper will also be rewarded.
