Target Hardware and General Store of 44 Public Road, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara has thrown its support behind the Mark Wiltshire birth anniversary dominoes tournament which commenced on Wednesday
night last.
Chief Executive Officer of the entity Troy Baksh presented a cheque of an undisclosed sum to Wiltshire at his company’s location yesterday. Baksh told Kaieteur Sport that he is happy to contribute towards the hosting of the tournament and hopes that it will be successful while Wiltshire thanked him for his support.
Phantom, Golden Masters and Brothers registered victories on Wednesday night at Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt. Phantom marked 72 games to beat Rage 66 and Turning Point 61. Orin Favourite marked 15 for the winners while Ronald Beharry got 16 for Rage and Loraine Reid 15 for Turning Point.
Golden Masters chalked up 83 games to win their match up against Mix Up 75 and Scramblers on 70. Golden Masters were led by Cort Sutton and Sherwin Grenion both made the maximum of 18 games while Ganesh Sankar top scored for Mix Up with 16. Basil Bradshaw got 15 for Scramblers.
Gavin Bownauth and Navin Sankar registered 16 and 15 games respectively to lead Brothers who totaled 72 games to victory over FX with 71 and KTS on 64. Claire Benjamin and Paul Williams made 15 games each for FX and KTS in that order.
The competition continues tonight at Transport Sports Club while the playoffs will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the said venue. Teams that did not contest the preliminary rounds but wish to enter the playoffs will be charged a fee of $6,000.
