Chairman of Iwokrama, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister
Moses Nagamootoo, yesterday. They discussed matters of mutual interest, especially a green economy and a more sustainable Iwokrama.
“I know Guyana is generating a lot of power from hydrocarbon resources and that is certainly not something that is going to happen in the future, so we need to bring about a shift in the more efficient use of energy and much greater use of renewables.
“We need to be making modern energy accessible to those who may not have access to it today,” Dr. Pachauri said.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo said that Guyana has an abundance of natural resources but financial assistance is needed to promote a greater energy sector and good life for all Guyanese through various partnerships.
