Days after he was stabbed repeatedly by his wife during an altercation and was admitted in a critical
state to the Georgetown Public Hospital, Constable Randolph Gill is recuperating. His condition is said to be stable.
Gill, who is attached to the Anna Regina Police Station, was injured after he was attacked by his wife Nichola Gill during a drunken state. The police officer entered their Essequibo home and physically and verbally launched an attack on his wife who retaliated by stabbing him.
Gill was later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient. It is however unclear whether the police would institute a charge against Gill’s wife who was subsequently arrested and questioned after the incident.
In late November, Gill was placed under close arrest after he was involved in a fight with Paradise/Jibb fisherman, 23-year-old, Amar Zaban. Zaban and some friends were imbibing at a night spot in Henrietta Village and during an altercation, Zaban shoved Gill after he was warned by the Police officer to desist from interfering with an Amerindian waitress.
Gill retaliated by picking up a beer bottle hitting Zaban in his head. The fisherman was later hospitalized. (Yannason Duncan)
