On Monday a female resident of Melanie Damishana on the East Coast of Demerara was remanded to prison by City Magistrate Alex Moore, for allegedly pushing a City Constable into moving traffic.
Marsha Phillips pleaded not guilty to all the charges read to her.
The first allegation stated that on January 18 at Water Street, Georgetown, she unlawfully assaulted City Police Superintendent, Laurel Gittens. She was also charged with resisting arrest and breaching the peace.
The Magistrate told the woman that he would have released her on bail, but because of her disorderly and raucous behaviour in the courtroom, he ordered her to be remanded up to January 26.
Phillips, who was unrepresented, launched a commotion in the courtroom.
