Medicine Chest added its name to the list of business entities to come forward and support Fruta Conquerors after ahnding over a large quantity of football kits for the club’s Elite League Under-17 Competition, during a simple ceremony, at its business location on Middle Street yesterday.
Aaron Fraser of Medicine Chest (3rd right) hands over the U-17 Elite League kits and uniforms to Club Secretary Daniel Thomas in the presence of club officials and GFF TDO) Lyndon France (right) yesterday.
The gift it was disclosed is valued in excess of $200,000 and includes branded uniforms, resistance parachutes, cones and agility ladders.
Aaron Fraser, acting on behalf of the entity shortly after wishing the team the best of luck in its upcoming endeavour, told the gathering of club officials, Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Technical Development Officer (TDO) Lyndon France and the media that while he has unofficially been a staunch supporter of the club, the occasion marked the first time that he has contributed officially to the club.
He opined that the executives and management staff of the club must be commended for their attentiveness to the club, adding that other such organisations should try to emulate their work.
Club Secretary Daniel Thomas in his remarks thanked the entity for its support, informing that their initial approach was met with assurance of support and the rest is history.
The uniforms will be adorned with the entity’s logo.
Meanwhile, Captain of the Elite U-17 squad Jeremy Garrett praised the company for its donation, before stating his delight in being able to compete in the GFF U-17 league.
Coach Seon Hescott, who also extended thanks to the entity, echoed earlier sentiments expressed by Thomas in calling for other members of the business sector to get on board and support the sport.
Head Coach of Fruta Conquerors Calvin Allen praised the company for their contribution, assuring that the gift will be properly utilised for the benefit of the players.
France in his remarks said the GFF has decided that the U-17 Elite League should be the matching part of the senior Elite League, adding that if we are to produce elite athletes the procedure must commence at an early age.
According to the TDO, U-13 and U-15 Elite Leagues are strongly being considered and with this support there is optimism that more companies will come on board and offer assistance which will ultimately be of benefit to the game locally.
