Kumar Bishundial and Steven Allick copped the cricketer of the year awards when the Lusignan Sports Club hosted its annual awards ceremony on Saturday night on the East Coast of Demerara.

Bishundial who represented the club’s A team also carted off the overall cricketer of the year prize; Allick represented the B team. Leon Morgan and Ferron Kadir both of the A team won the best batsman and bowler awards, while Safraz Haniff and Dexter Jones won the said prizes in the B team.
Robin Williams was the club’s most outstanding batsman and overall cricketer at the U15 level while Tamesh Motiram won the best bowler prize in the said category. Gavin Boodwah took the best batsman and overall cricketer prizes, while Dambuka Ngondo grabbed the best bowler trophy at the U19 level.
The most discipline player award went to Vishnu Ramjeet, Steve Ramdass pocketed the most improved player trophy, while C. Jeenarine was the best over-40 player. Brian Sattaur, Boodwah, Williams and Motiram were given special recognition for their contribution to various national and inter-county teams. The club also presented an award to Sharon Jailall, wife of its late former president Samaroo Jailall in recognition for his services rendered.
Speaking at the ceremony, president of the club Christopher Singh said the organisation had a fruitful 2015 despite a number of challenges. He congratulated the awardees and urged the youths to remain committed to cricket and focus on their education.
He added that his sole objective is to see youths fulfill their potential. The president stated that while the club has done fairly well over the past year, they have learnt some valuable lessons and that there is always room for improvement. He appealed to the NDCs and RDCs to support clubs in the area so that sports can develop. Singh expressed gratitude to his fellow executive and sponsors.
