BCB/NSC/Berbice River Cricket Association second division cricket competition…
Kimbia beat Ebini Ranch Raiders in their final preliminary match of the Berbice River Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition to end up as runners-up to Friendship Youngsters thus earning the right to meet with them in the final of the competition. This competition to promote the game in the area, was organised by the Berbice Cricket Board with balls provided by National Sports Commission.
In the match which was played at the Ebini Ranch Raiders ground, the host choosing to bat first, ran up against Kimbia’s opening pacer Martin Agard who took the first 4 wickets in quick time to have them 24 for 4. Irving Lyte and Andrew Pearson stopped the slide by putting on 50 for the 5th wicket, but after Lyte fell for 28, Pearson found no other support and Raiders were bowled out for 98 in 22-Overs with Pearson left on 37 N.O. Martin Agard ended with 4 for 15 from 5-Overs and Lance Gillard 3 for 16.
Kimbia in response, did not encounter much problems and were able to make 99 for 4 in 18-Overs with Bevon Smith leading the way with 39 and Lance Gillard 23, while Peter Grant took 2 for 30 for Ebini Ranch Raiders.
