The driver of this car miraculously escaped serious injury when he lost control while reportedly
trying to avoid colliding with a horse on Sunday night.
The incident which occurred near the treacherous Coldingen turn on the East Coast of Demerara, saw the car severing a wooden utility pole, plunging the surrounding communities into blackout, before settling into the nearby trench.
Eyewitnesses said that the car was proceeding at a fast rate of speed and the driver tried his best to swerve from some wild horses.
Residents however lamented the prevalence of stray animals on the roads at night, which they said will result in incidents that are worse than what occurred on Sunday night.
Apart from the cost associated with the repairs to the car, the owner will have to bear the cost of replacing the damaged public infrastructure.
