Shannon Crawford was re-elected unopposed as the President of the Demerara Cricket Umpire and Scorers Association (DCUSA) when the entity held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday at Lusignan Community Centre,

East Coast Demerara. Nigel Duguid returned un-opposed as the Vice President, Nolan Hawke Secretary, Edward Nicholls Treasurer, Arleigh Rutherford Assistant Secretary Treasurer and Zaheer Mohamed Public Relations Officer. The committee members are Gyananand Sookdeo, Nandkumar Shivsankar, Javed Persaud and Joseph Jeffery.
Speaking after the elections, Crawford thanked the respective sub associations for their confidence and urged the executive to work together for the development of the association. He stressed the need for fund raising activities.
Crawford stated that the DCUSA will assist Upper Demerara Association in strengthening their association and will conduct training for umpires in the area. He stated that the DCUSA will advise the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council to apply to the National Sports Commission for funding through sub-vention and the issue of umpires being released to officiate is looked at in the national sports policy.
The president explained that training sessions will continue and he will host a work shop for umpires on Friday at 14:00 hrs at the Mayor and City Council union building at Woolford Avenue; the seminar is open to all umpires.
He took the opportunity to congratulate Duguid on his selection to officiate in the ICC U19 world cup in Bangladesh. He thanked director of sport Christopher Jones for his assistance in 2015 and do look forward to his continued support as well as East Coast Demerara Cricket Umpires Association for hosting the meeting.
