Two men are in custody following the discovery of a 9mm sub-machine gun and close to
three kilograms of marijuana, in separate police operations in the interior yesterday.
One of the operations took place at a mining camp while the other occurred at a regular police checkpoint.
According to the police at about 10:00 hours yesterday ranks in the ‘F’ Division conducted a search on a mining camp at Arangoy, Mazaruni River, during which the unlicensed sub-machine gun was found.
One man is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
And around the same time, another set of ranks conducted a search on a man at the Itaballi Checkpoint, during which two kilograms, 748 grams of marijuana were found.
The man has also been arrested and is assisting with the investigations.
