Ricardo Adams scored the first century while Shazim Hussain captured seven wickets in seven balls
as the Mobile Wizard 10/10 Softball Cricket tournament organized by the Guyana Softball League and sponsored by Wolf’s Furniture Store, Trophy Stall, Rohan’s Furniture Establishment and Miss Love Trading enjoyed its most entertaining weekend.
The weekend saw10 matches on two grounds as Speedboat SC maintained their unbeaten run, while Wolf’s Warriors and Cross breed Warriors also won their games to advance to the quarterfinals which are set for January 23 at Zeeburg Ground where a hardball 10/10 will be played before the quarterfinals are contested.
At the Leonora Primary School Ground:
Speedboat SC mauled Leonora Youths by 7 wkts:
Leonora Youths made 50 in 8.1 overs with Hussain taking 3-12 including a hat-trick. Speedboat SC replied with 52-3 in three overs with Ganesh Narine making 25 from seven balls.
Crossbreed Warriors defeated MMZ XI by 6 wickets:
MMZ were limited to 89 all out in 9.3 overs with Sunil Boodhoo slamming 42 off 15 balls and Yezim Mohamed making 28. Anthony Arjune (3-5) bowled well for Crossbreed Warriors who made 94-6 in 7 overs with Arjune scoring 20.
Speedboat SC demolished Vipers XI by four wkts:
Vipers XI made 82 all out in 9.5 overs with Hussain taking a helmet-trick on his way to 4-7 off two overs. Speedboat SC replied with 88-6 in 8.3 overs with Greg Singh making 21.
Vipers XI crushed Superstreet XI by 41 runs:
Vipers made 93 all out in 9.3 overs as Rohit Khan (3-29) was the best bowler, while Superstreet Reloaded fell for 52 in 8.3 overs with Arif Hussain taking 3-12.
Crossbreed Warriors XI defeated Irfaan XI by 4 wkts:
Irfaan XI made 65 all out in 9.2 overs as Jitendra Kishore made 30. Crossbreed Warriors replied 67-6 in 4.3 overs with Rayon Sookram contributing 22.

Adams clobbered nine sixes and a four in an unbeaten 109 before blasting 88 as Omesh X1 defeated Zeeburg Warriors by 58 runs but lost to Settle XI by 7 wkts. Omesh XI 165-3 in 10 overs (Adams 109 n.o). Zeeburg Warriors 107-6 in 10 overs (Zaman Baskh 35).
Settle XI defeated Omesh XI by 7 wkts:
Omesh XI batted first and made 152-4 in 10 overs (Adams 88) Settle XI replied with 158-3 in 9.5 overs (Ameer Nizamuddin 71 and Diaram Persaud 44.
Wolf’s Warriors destroyed Brickery All Stars XI by 10 wkts:
Brickery All Stars XI made to 46-6 in 10 overs with Kevin Oxford taking 3-4. Wolf’s Warriors replied with 47-0 in 2 overs with Lincoln Leander slamming six sixes in one over in his 45 out of the 47 to win.
Wolf’s Warriors ended Settle XI unbeaten run by defeating them by 7 wkts:
Settle XI made 95-6 with Safraz Karim taking 3-12. In reply Wolf’s Warriors made 96-3 in 7.2 overs (Riaz Karim 37 n.o)
Brickery All Stars XI defeated Zeeburg Warriors XI by 6 runs:
Brickery All Stars XI made 121-4 in 10 overs Kevin Kanhai 49 and Anil Mangar 41. In reply, Zeeburg Warriors scored 115-3 in 10 overs (Zaman Baskh 55).
Activities on January 23 include entertainment with Chow POW, Kool Boyz and Granny Ivelaw among the artistes. In addition Slingerz sound system will feature alongside Hi- Five, while children’s, Ring and other games for the families will also feature at the venue.
The one ball manto which carries a grand prize of $60,000 will be played in between the games. All cricket lovers are invited and tickets cost $300 and $500 and two winning tickets will be drawn randomly with the lucky person getting cell phones from Mobile Wizards.
