Christopher Henry Gayle has been confirmed to participate in Unity Cricket T20 game on January 30 at Providence. The big Jamaica is the most destructive T20 batsman in the world and the anticipated capacity crowd at Providence
will get the chance to see the left-hander in action with his ‘Golden’ bat which he will use for the first time in the Caribbean.
The 36-year-old is the world’s number one entertainer in cricket and has the most runs in the world in this format. Local fans should be at Providence to see him perform. Fans will hope he hits lots of sixes since every spectator who takes a one-handed catch in the stands will go home US$500 richer.
Gayle and Grenadian Andre Fletcher, who has nine fifties including a highest score of 90 not out from 87 T20 games, are the latest players to board the Unity Cricket train as it moves closer to Providence for Saturday January 30.
The pair joins overseas Internationals Lindl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy, Reyad Emrit, Krismar Santokie, Nicholas Pooran, Sulieman Benn and Samuel Badree to confirm the participation in what is the biggest sporting event in Guyana for this year. Another world-ranked T20 spinner should confirm his availability by mid January.
Ramnaresh Sarwan will want to remind his many fans of his class with his silky cover drives while Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Jonathon Foo, Gudakesh Motie, Chris Barnwell, Raymond Reifer, Jevon Searles, Leon Johnson, Anthony Bramble and Rajendra Chandrika should among the locals on show.
Apart from five softball matches that will be played involving the best teams in Guyana, there will also be a fun day on the tarmac for Children and tickets which will go on sale shortly, will cost $2,000 before January 30th and a bit more at the gate.
