hopeful for the CONCACAF top job.
Rodrigues, who has presided over the Lady Jags on each occasion that they have flew the Golden Arrowhead aloft in qualifying for CONCACAF says that while he has made his intentions known and has also released a 14-page manifesto outlining his vision for the CONCACAF post, he is 100% committed to the Lady Jags’ quest to qualify for this year’s Olympics.
“I’m 100% committed to Texas, completely focused on advancing to Rio. The players were advised at the start of the camp and saw my commitment in training. It’s not a distraction in any way.”
The Lady Jags on Wednesday last wrapped up their first and only training camp ahead of next month’s CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament set for Houston Texas, USA, February 10 – 21.
The Lady Jags is made up of a group of focused and committed ladies who are hungry to prove that they belong among the best in the world. They have embarked on this mission a few years ago and still has unfinished business which they are hoping to seal with qualification for the Rio Olympics.
Coach Rodrigues who shared the recent camp with Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Technical Director Claude Bolton informed that team has adopted a new and more specific approach for the first match in Texas against Canada on February 11.
“We’ve adopted a new style of play and a very specific game plan for game one. The players have bought into it and are executing it well. Our time restraints with them and lack of matches limit us being at our best, but we apply as best we can with what we have to work within our constraints.”
GFF President Wayne Forde in an invited comment yesterday once again congratulated and hailed the commitment of the Lady Jags and Technical Staff towards this mission while also stating that the federation is working assiduously to ensure that they get at least one warm up match before the Olympic Qualifiers.
Guyana has been drawn in Group B which includes neighboring Trinidad and Tobago, Canada and Guatemala while the world leading USA is in Group A along with Mexico, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica.
