The Young Warriors Cricket Club of Cumberland Village, East Canje, Berbice has made good on its promise by donating a water cooler each to three religious organisations namely: Cumberland Masjid, Lighthouse
Mission of West Canefield, East Canje and No19 Hindu Mandir. Proceeds from the club’s annual fundraiser, Mash Cup 2015, was used to purchase the items.
At a simple presentation ceremony held recently, Sahadeo Singh, Manager of the club firstly thanked all those who have contributed to the success of the event which placed the club in a position to make the donations. He encouraged the recipients to care the coolers.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Haimkumar Mangal thanked the striving cricket club for the kind gesture and assured the club that care will be taken with the coolers. He added that the coolers will surely make life easier for the three places of worship. He called on private individuals and businesses to continue to support the club which has produced many outstanding cricketers over the years with the most recent being young Shimron Hetmyer who is only 18 and is already a senior national cricketer and was recently appointed captain of the West Indies Under-19 for the youth World Cup in Bangladesh.
