A frustrated and scared, Ameena Hakh, said yesterday that the man who stabbed her husband’s cousin, Ganesh Ramlakhan, to death on New Year’s Day, contacted her two nights ago issuing threats.
Ramlakhan, a 34-year-old carpenter of Mon Repos Pasture, East Coast Demerara, was reportedly stabbed several times about his body after an altercation with his “drunk” cousin, who residents and relatives have identified as Vishal Baldeo, alias Vicky.
According to a relative yesterday, the post mortem examination revealed that Ramlakhan died as a result of a single stab wound which punctured his heart.
The police, on the night of the incident received word that “the assailant” had slipped into a house in the area. A search was conducted, but he had already fled.
Relatives are convinced that the assailant has since fled the country and is currently in Suriname where he normally plies his trade as a fisherman since he called from a “Suriname number”.
Hakh stated yesterday that “Vicky” called her two nights ago on a “597 number” and told her that since she provided information on him to the media, he would be “coming for her”.
Since the call, Hakh said that she is currently staying at a relative’s house.
“I frighten, I can even sleep in my house… Vicky call me on a 597 number and tell me that he ain’t done with me yet and how he coming for me because I went on TV station and say how I see he stab Ganesh (Ramlakhan)…And I give the newspapers his photograph,” Hakh stated.
Hakh continued that a call was subsequently made to the Beterverwagting Police Station informing them of what had transpired.
Investigations are ongoing.
