The entire village of Better Hope will come alive on Sunday 10th as many troop at the Better Hope Community
Centre ground as Better Hope ‘A’ and Better Hope ‘B’ clash for supremacy in the final of the East Coast Cricket Board’s / East Coast Demerara Cricket Association’s (ECCB/ECDCA) premier competition sponsored by ELIZABETH STYLES USA (ES USA). A large crowd is expected since Better Hope Sports Club for the very first time dominated the entire competition. Both teams from Better Hope have qualified for the final. Information reaching the ECCB/ECDCA revealed that the club will be arranging a huge family day which includes a fully stocked bar.
Both teams played excellent cricket throughout the tournament and the contest is expected to a thriller with the ‘B’ team vowing to take the first prize of $350,000 and the ES USA trophy. Other prizes include $50,000 for the second placed and a beautiful trophy for the player of the match. With the likes of explosive players Suresh Budhu, Ravie Singh, Chris Deonarine among others in the ‘A’ team, it will be a challenging task but the ‘B’ team also comprises of an excellent outfit which include Captain Clive Rampersaud, Daniel Kowlessar, Mulchand Singh, Kevin Rampersaud and Jayadev Mana.
The ‘A’ team: Suresh Budhu (Captain), Chris Deonarine, Ricknauth Rooplall, Asad Mohamed, Ravie Singh, Wayne Narine, Nazim Khan, Imran Khan, Rasheed Rohoman, Danesh Mangal, Avinash Mohabir, Raza Mohamed, Sultan Rooplall and Navin Bishun. The manager / coach – Paul Singh.
The B team: Clive Rampersaud (Captain) Kevin Rampersaud, Daniel Kowlessar, Roy Rampersaud, Sachin Singh, Jayadev Mana, Amir Khan, Ryan Premchand, Mulchand Singh, Mustafa Azimulla, Rajendra Dhanraj, Chandra Mohan and Sylvan Kowlessar. The manager is Jagnarine Singh and the coach is Robbie Harriprashad. The umpires are Charles Gibbons and Kenelyn Baker with the match referee being Judister Rampersaud.The action is expected to start promptly at 10.30 am.
