A 25-year-old miner was yesterday remanded after he appeared before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on an Attempted Murder charge.
Devon Smith, of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on December 30, last, at Eteringbang, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Leon Richardson with intent to murder.
The Magistrate remanded the accused and ordered him to return to court on Thursday.
According to Police Prosecutor, Corporal Simone Payne, the victim and the suspect are known to each other. She said that on the day in question, the men were involved in an argument.
Payne said that the victim pushed the suspect on to a table. Smith retaliated and reportedly broke a glass bottle and stabbed Richardson to the right side of his neck.
