A housebreaker, who was trying to make a hustle in an Eccles New Scheme, East Bank Demerara house, will have all the time in the world to explain his position to a Magistrate.
The man was nabbed on Old Year’s Night after members of the Eccles Community Policing group surrounded the house with him inside.
Kaieteur News understands that occupants of the house were at work when the thief and two other accomplices decided to raid their house around 18:00 hours.
They did not cater for nosey neighbours, who watched their every move and contacted members of the neighbourhood Community Policing Group.
The CPG members raced to the scene and quickly surrounded the house. Two of the thieves managed to escape while the other decided to secrete himself in the house to wait for an opportunity to make good his escape.
This was not to be, as armed ranks from the Guyana Police Force subsequently arrived, entered the house and caught him hiding in the living room.
By this time the homeowners were informed about what was taking place. They arrived in time to see the police escorting the captured bandit out of the house
When questioned about his reason for being in the house, the thief said that he was just making a “hustle” since he had a “child to mind.”
“So he come by my house to make his hustle. He said that he was watching us all the time. He waited for us to leave then he broke in through the kitchen window after removing the grillwork,” one of the homeowners told this newspaper.
