Overseas based Guyanese and a former national cycling champion, Wilbert Benjamin, continues to lead the way in showing benevolence to his home county. Benjamin who has over the years been giving back in various ways

recently donated a new set of uniforms to his former club, the Flying Aces Cycling Club (FACC) of Berbice. The 30 sets of Mauve and White uniforms were handed over to Patron of the Club, former Mayor and popular Businessman Errol Alphonso at a simple ceremony at the Benjamin Cycle and Sports Store at Fyrish Corentyne, Berbice.
This is the second change of colour for the club which has been in existence for thirty years. The mauve and white three-piece replaces the club’s yellow and white tops which it has been using for the past three years.
Benjamin a native of Berbice and back home on holiday was a former national cyclist who represented Guyana at both the junior and senior levels including the Pan Am and the Texaco games.
In the junior division he was on the bike at Inter Guiana games among other sojourns. He was also a former school and junior champion who won the national school championship on three consecutive occasions. He still rides in his adopted home land of Canada where he also operates sports stores. Benjamin returns home on a regular basis and would assist his club and teams in whatever way possible including sponsorship of races.
Benjamin in brief remarks stated that it is one of his ways in saying thank you and giving back to his home country. He stated that it is always his desire assist and do something tangible for his home country and people who helped and nurtured him in his development.
