Dear Editor,
The “Pergola Promenade “was financed by the six institutions under the umbrella of the Cooperative Financial Administration during the eighties and was dedicated to the sterling performance of the late Shirley Field-Ridley, a former minister of the Government and former wife of the current Mayor of Georgetown.
Over the years it was the haven for vagrants of all sorts and was subjected to all types of solid waste including human excrement. I have noticed that in the recent clean up exercise of the Merriman Mall this structure seemed to have deliberately deserted by Municipal Authorities as grass and other unsightly debris can still be seen desecrating this edifice.
The Mayor and his City Councilors ought to hang their heads in shame as they certainly cannot have any excuse for not maintaining this monument over the years. Come on folks, let’s get on with the job.
