Blairmont Community Centre defeated the highly favoured Young Warriors outright to earn their spot in the semi-finals of the Tenelec Inc Under-15 Cricket Competition in Berbice.
In the quarter final played at Cumberland, Blairmont chose to take first strike, Berbice Under-15 batsman Javed Karim opening the batting, held the innings together putting on 65 for the 2nd wicket with Saheed Khan (24) before he was eventually caught off legspinner Brandon Pydana for 83 (9 fours) at 135 for 7. Blairmont eventually made 149 all out in their first innings with Pydana picking up 4 for 29 for Young Warriors.
That target turned out to be too much for Young Warriors as they were in turn bowled out for just 112 in reply with Berbice Under-15 offspinner Seon Glasgow Jnr doing the damage with 4 for 21. Topscoring were Trevon Stanislaus with 37 and Junior Williams 25.
Enjoying a first innings lead of 37, Blairmont Community Centre made 129 all out in their second innings with Talim Inshan topscoring with 30, while Chandradat Veerasammy and Azad Ishahack made 28 each. Pydana took 4 for 49 to end with match figure of 8 for 78. Bacchus took 3 for 15.
Set a winning target for 167 in their second innings, Young Warriors found the Blairmont spin attack hard to cope with and were bowled out for 120 giving Blairmont victory by 46 runs. Glasgow took 4 for 19 to end with match figures of 8 for 40, while Berbice left arm spinner Nigel Deodat took 3 for 28.
