Two vendors were each released on $75,000 bail respectively by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, yesterday, to answer charges of burglarizing a supermarket.
The Magistrate released the men on bail and ordered them to return to court on January 20.
Vickram Nauth, 42, a vendor, who hails from 252 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty and Wazim Bacchus, 38, of 110 Block Y Golden Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that between December 26 and December 27 at Georgetown, they broke and entered Guynaz Green Grocery and Supermarket and stole 40 boxes of cheese valued at $1.2 million and 40 sacks of powdered milk—all totaling $2, 285,500 property of Mohammed Safar.
The prosecution made no objections to bail.
