Dec 31, 2015 Letters
Dear Editor,
It took ten long years but at last the residents of Budhan’s Scheme in West Canje Berbice have on the 17th December 2015 been able to access running water in their taps for the first time; as such we would like to thank the Government of Guyana, moreso the President, David Granger, who promptly acted on our letter which we sent to the Office of the President requesting that he look into our plight where we were not getting running water, although numerous attempts were made with the previous government and endless meetings with the Past and Present Regional chairmen. Kudos to Dr. Richard Van West Charles, the current CEO of GUYWA who acted swiftly and came himself to meet with us one afternoon in November and promised us that before Christmas 2015, we would get running water and true to his word we got what was promised. Budhan’s Scheme is really a street which runs one mile in length and the road is 60% complete, we the residents are pleading with the regional chairman, Mr. David Armogan and other relevant authorities like central government to look into the situation with our road and we would like him to come and visit the scheme and see the remaining mud road and include that road in the 2016 budget. Thanks once again to everyone who played a part in us getting water in our scheme. We really appreciate it.
Residents of Budhan’s Scheme
