The final of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s (LABA) Malta Supreme Christmas Open basketball championship will be played between top seed Retrieve Raiders and the number two seed Half Mile Bulls on Saturday following the win by Half Mile Bulls against Victory Valley Royals on Tuesday night.
On Monday night the semifinal game between Half Mile Bulls and Victory Valley Royals was pushed to Tuesday night for completion due to rain. That game continued after the Royals were leading 11-7 but Bulls rebounded to win by ten points 61-51 after they took control at half time 33-20 and by the end of the third quarter were leading 47-39.
Terrain Welch was the top scorer for the Bulls with 16 points with the next best scorer being Dennis Niles with eight, while for Royals Harold Adams netted 14 and Marlon Pollydore supported with 11.
Raiders had booked their final’s place on Monday evening after their game against the Amelia’s Ward Jets did not finish after Jets complained that they will not continue the game after 8 minutes of play in the second quarter for what they say was unfavourable playing conditions.
However, the game officials disagreed and ordered play but Jets did not take to the court, which resulted with forfeiture paving the way for the Raiders to contest the final.
