Guyana Defence Force (GDF) middle distance queen, Andrea Foster ran away
with the Under-20 Girls’ 6km title, while Running Braves Matthew McKenzie won the male category of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) Cross Country race last Sunday at the National Park.
Foster ran 24:33 to beat Running Braves’ Claudrice McKoy (24:36.05) and Maria Urquhart (25:45.81), and Super Upcoming Runners’ Mearisha Carter (42:12.77) respectively, while McKenzie defeated Mercury Fast Laners’ Troy Hestick (26:33.52).
In the U-18 Girls’ 4km race, Running Braves’ Mariah McKenzie won in 18:15.86 ahead of Mercury’s Latoya Perreira, who completed the distance in 19:20.22. Samuel Lynch won the Boys’ race in 14:47.11 ahead of Nathan Saul (15:23.08) and Timmeon Spencer (16:14.08) in that order.
Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School’s Serena Williams won the Under-16 Girls 4km race in 17:05.03 ahead of team-mate, Sheama Tyrell (17:37.90) and Guyana Defence Force’s, Leyanna Charles (19:16.47) respectively.
In the Boys’ category, Jeremy Garrett ran 14:49.43 to win ahead of Daniel Melville (15:23.08) and Kevin David (15:48.00) in that order.
Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School’s Shaquka Tyrell claimed the Girls U-14 2km race in 7:00.6 ahead of Kissanna Glen (7:11.59), Aaliyah Headley (7:21.73) and Crystal Hutson (8:02.34) in that order.
Benel Ogle won the male race in 7:11.19 ahead of Matthew Abrams (7:28.91) and Christianburg Marvin Williams (8:22.41) and Marlon Williams (8:42.38) respectively. Dorway Logan won the 6km Masters’ race in 25:33.90 ahead of Franklyn Archer (27:45.81).
