Seon Anthony Edwards, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with the murder of goldminer, Rawle Peters.
Peters was allegedly stabbed to death at Puruni Landing, back in 2010. Edwards, 26, also known as “Rasta Man”, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who remanded him to prison for the indictable offence. He will make his next court appearance on January 15, at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
The murder suspect was captured last week, after lawmen tracked him down to where he was selling bottled water in the vicinity of Regent and Hinck Streets, Georgetown.
Edwards reportedly confessed to killing the goldminer during an argument.
There are reports that the now dead man and Edwards were involved in an argument over $300,000, that Peters had claimed to have lost. Peters allegedly struck Edwards with a piece of wood. The accused reportedly retaliated by slashing Peters’s abdomen with a chopper. Peters died while being transported to the Bartica Hospital.
