President of the Guyana Baseball League, Robin Singh,
has extended New Year’s wishes with the hope of continued partnerships in promoting the sport here. He extended gratitude for all assistance during 2015. Here is the full text of his message:
“Dear Guyana Baseball/Softball coaches, players, fans, sponsors, media and general public, I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year! On behalf of the whole Baseball Guyana organization, I am wishing you all the best as we begin another journey of challenges, victories, lessons and changes in the year ahead.
We thank our all volunteer staff and cadre of coaches for their tireless work in spreading the great game of baseball throughout the ten regions of Guyana.
The year 2015 was our third year of operation and we are proud to report our first group of students who undertook to demonstrate baseball for the CSEC exams were very successful, of the thirty students, 22 gained Grade 1 passes and attained 8 Grade 2, our support of students who choose baseball will continue in 2016 and we envision an expansion of this program. Our Coaching education clinics at the end of the year were well attended and exposed the sport to new prospective coaches and reinforced standardization and certification among those more experienced. The GBL also obtained affiliation with the Guyana Olympic Association, a testament to our years of hard work and the Olympic spirit of camaraderie of our GOA.
Our main goal of 2015 was the establishment of a baseball facility and regrettably we have failed to impress the powers that be of the benefits of our sport, we will not however be singing our woes but are resolved to press our case and seek new avenues of achieving our goal of a world class baseball academy for the benefit of all of our nation’s youth.
2016 will see the establishment of the RALLY CAP program in Georgetown for children aged 5 to 110 and Absolutes 15 U, programs that has been much requested and which we are now equipped to deliver.
Our national teams (Female and Male), dubbed the “KANIMAS” are expected to make their overdue international forays in Canada and Curacao respectively, this makes for a very exciting 2016 and we look forward to providing our players with a rewarding sporting and cultural experience.
2016 will see the Guyana Baseball League provide training and logistical support for establishment of baseball programs in Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago, through support from the islands government funded sport programs.
We look forward to working with you and your children for a rewarding new year.
May God bless and Protect Our Nation’s Youth.”
