It’s always a pleasurable sight to see persons of greater fortune, give back to society. As Christmas passes we tend to observe those who have taken up the mantel to spread the Christmas cheer and joy of giving.
A non-profit organization, Many Waters Foundation (Guyana), in collaboration with Cleaners ‘R’ Us, visited the Palms Geriatric Home, Brickdam, Georgetown on Christmas morning to spread Christmas joy.
The company, which is located at 322 New Market Street, hosted a visit to the home where they prepared and served tea, bread and pepper pot for 220 residents.
President of the foundation, Tyrone Anthony and Vice President Andrew Braithwaite, along with seven others from the company coordinated the event.
It was a time of laughter and all residents thanked the company for the undertaking and the delicious meal.
“This is the first time the organization has done this for the ‘Palms’ but we are looking towards giving back to the home every year”, Anthony said.
“We know most families of the residents would not really pay them visits, so we (the Many Waters Foundation) decided to do something for them.”
The organization’s plan for the New Year would be to distribute school uniforms to random households and also to rehabilitate street vagrants.
“We will try to clean up regular street vagrants and provide them with jobs, so they will be able to make a living off of their own, instead of begging”. Anthony said.
The company will also be assisting many of the less fortunate in poverty stricken communities in Guyana.
