Dear Editor,
Can Mr. Chairman of the Board of Industrial Training, Clinton Williams explain how the West Berbice Rural Women and Youth, run by the wife of an elite of the PPP, was allowed to run 95% of the training courses in Region five (5). That organisation was employing trainers and paying them very low salaries.
Employment of trainers is the sole responsibility of BIT. It is also alleged that an organization (Roadside Baptist) in Region six (6) funded by USAID to train individuals in various disciplines, was also paid by BIT as though that organization was training those very individuals under the BIT programme.
Mr. Editor, this Government is bound to regret its actions, if it continues to remain unmoved on these things. The Board of Industrial Training (BIT) falls under the Ministry headed by Ms. Volda Lawrence. It is Mr. Williams connected by blood to anyone high up in that Ministry? If the answer is yes, can Mr. Williams explain so as to avoid talk of conflict of interest?
On an unrelated matter but not so unrelated given the nature of politics in Guyana, someone said he was a YSM boy. Can Mr. Williams confirm this? I have no ulterior motive in asking these questions. I am just seeking answers to question in a Ministry I am closely involved with
