Dear Editor,
Reference is made to your article “”Sex work is work; end violence against such service providers” in your publication of December 25th 2015.
Really Dear Editor, Christmas Day is not a suitable day for you to carry such a report. What a disservice to your readers wanting to hear and read of tidings of good joy. Definitely not about sex workers. You do owe an apology to your readers.
I have no sympathy with any of the representations the presenters made. It is the modern day concept and style to stretch matters to justify some miniscule area and embellish it to press for changes for what they consider to be better. Looking at this quote from the reported discussion; “Every citizen has the right to be rewarded according to the nature, quality and quantity of his or her work, equal pay for equal work, or work of equal value, under just conditions of work”; one would say fine and dandy. Nothing wrong with that quote. Artfully however, the discussion enfolds minute concepts and moves into another direction with “”SEX WORK IS WORK AND WORK IS WORK”.
What balderdash! These apparently knowledgeable presenters felt that they could gloss over evil and wicked behavior as being work and that work is work. Sex in any form is not work. It primarily for pleasure and satisfaction, and the principal part of procreation. It has various asides and one of them is for monetary reward, that is, if you want it, then pay up. That situation arises because there is no bond or affection present. It is purely for gratification from whomsoever. Physicality is an ingrained activity of sex but that is not work under any circumstance whatsoever.
Presenter “Dodson revealed that sex work – that is exchange of sexual relations for money and other benefits “, has reclassified and redefined sex work as being an exchange. Work seems according to him (sic) to be “exchange”. and appears to be out of sinc with the other platitudes of the other presenters. Very comical in my opinion. Sex is not work. Sex for money is an abomination and should be punished. Hope that the new Guyana Government does not waste time giving this group any attention. There are more pressing matters of state.
