Wins for Crossbreed Warriors, Zeeburg Warriors, Leonora Youths, Vipers XI, Settle XI
The Mobile Wizard 10/10 Softball cricket competition organized by the Guyana
Softball League in collaboration with the West Demerara Softball League concluded its tenth weekend with teams pushing to enhance their chances of a top six berth. The tournament is being sponsored by Mobile Wizard, Trophy Stall, V&P Supermarket, Rohan Furniture Establishment, Miss Love Trading, Wolf’s Furniture Store and Imtiaz and Imran Hack.
The results improved their record and gained valuable points in their quest to be the best team on the West Coast Demerara as well as East Bank Demerara.
The latest results are as follows:
Settle XI cruised past MMZ XI by 8 wickets to remain unbeaten.
MMZ XI won the toss and batted scoring 80 all out in 10 overs; Akash Rahaman 16 (1×6); Diaram Persaud 3-10 off 2 overs. Settle XI replied with 81-2 in 5 overs with Skipper Nazim Azeem 36 (5×6) off 18 balls.
Vipers XI gained a walkover from Ocean View XI.
Zeeburg Warriors also gained a walkover from Next Level XI.
Both teams who failed to show up with the required players will be fined.
Crossbreed Warriors demolished Superstreet Reloaded by 60 runs in a low scoring affair.
Crossbreed Warriors batted first and scored 80 all out in 10 overs with Anthony Arjune 27 (4×6) off 17 balls being the top score. Devindra Persaud 2-8 off 2 overs and Seepersaud Persaud 2-21 off 2 overs were the destroyers. Superstreet Reloaded were bundled out for the lowest score of the tournament, 20, in overcast conditions. Yoganand Rajnarine 3-2 in 2 overs and Anthony Arjune 2-7 off his two overs were in destructive form but it was the four run outs which were the telling blows on the Superstreet Reloaded batting.
Leonora Youths defeated Irfaan XI by 3 wickets.
Irfaan XI won the toss and batted scoring 79 all out in 10 overs with only Prem Persaud 28 (2×6;1×4) showing that he could handle the bowling. Bowling for Leonora Youths Hemendra Kowlessar 2-14 from 2 overs was the pick of the bowlers. Leonora Youths hit off the required runs in 4.1 overs, scoring 81 with Imtiaz Hack pulverizing the bowling with a quick fire 45 laced with 6 sixes and one four off 16 balls.
Arun Kumar was the winner for the day in the one ball manto and was the recipient of one Oakley shades and bat compliments of Imran Hacks and the popular bat maker Ickram Ali.
Additionally the Guyana Softball League, its Affiliates and sponsors would like to wish the entire Guyana a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year and would like to inform all the players there will be no matches this coming weekend because of the holidays.
Matches will resume on the first Sunday in January 2016.
