A father of five will be spending Christmas behind bars. He was jailed for four months after he pleaded guilty to a charge of simple larceny, when he appeared before City Magistrate Annette Singh in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Junior Wilson, a father of five girls, resides at Lot 18 Farm, East Bank Demerara. He confessed that on December 21, last, at Thomas Lands, Georgetown, he stole one Haier Laptop valued at $90,000 property of Selisha Khan.
Wilson, who was unrepresented by a lawyer, stated that he did not want to waste the court’s time. He explained to the court that he has no one to take care of his children.
According to Police Prosecutor Adunni Inniss, Khan is employed at the Civil Defence Commission. The prosecutor said that on the day in question, Khan took her laptop to work. Inniss related that the convict went to the woman’s office and requested assistance for his sick daughter.
Khan left her office for a few minutes and when she returned she noticed that the computer was missing and contacted the police.
The laptop was recovered.
After hearing the Magistrate’s sentence, Wilson begged for mercy but his cries went unheard.
