– released on bail
Bail was granted to the tune of $20,000 for a market vendor accused of break and enter and larceny, when he appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Shawn Scipio, 35, of Lot 87 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is accused of breaking into the dwelling house of his neighbour, Bevon October on December 14, at Grove. The court heard that the man carted off a wallet, and cash—all totaling $45,000.
Scipio denied the charge and stated that he was willing to compensate the complainant in order to bring a speedy closure to the matter. He told the Magistrate that he was released from prison a month ago.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones did not object to the defendant being placed on bail, but requested that it be set in a substantial amount.
This matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for January 21.
