Dear Editor,
It seems to me that the majority of the Leguan Police Force are campaigning for the PPP in the upcoming local government election. They appear to be very closely involved with the PPP candidates and seem to be using their power to intimidate the locals into voting for the PPP by ensuring that they victimize and criminalize the Coalition candidates. Members of the Leguan Police Force also seem to be spending the majority of their time at the residence of the PPP members who are responsible for the distribution of the food for the poor. Also, on Saturday the 19th. December 2015, they held a youth group concert about which I have received several complaints from the public concerning the fact that the police had collected donations from them without them even receiving tickets to the said concert. As such, I feel it necessary that they be held accountable for all funds raised for this concert.
Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan, I am respectfully suggesting that if you are serious about stamping out corruption within the Police Force, then this needs to be investigated and dealt with accordingly. The citizens of Guyana are fully entitled to a free and fair local election and it is up to our government to ensure that this right is fulfilled.
