Two residents of Craig were yesterday granted bail for assault, after appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Carlton Henry, 53, a mechanic, who lives at 39 Old Road, Craig, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on December 12, in the vicinity of Craig, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Shane Picot.
Shane Picot, 34, a Sales Representative, who also resides at Craig, is also charged with injuring Henry. He too, denied the accusation.
The Magistrate placed the men on $10,000 bail respectively after there were no objections from Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones.
The prosecution’s facts stated that Henry and Picot reside at the same apartment in Craig. On the day in question, the men had a heated argument that resulted in a brawl. Henry suffered a deep cut to his right eye and Picot received several cuts to his right hand.
The matter was adjourned and both men were ordered to make another court appearance in the Providence Magistrates’ Court on January 14, 2016.
